Rose Setten, mezzo-soprano, has recently completed her studies at the Royal College of Music International Opera School with Dinah Harris.

This year Rose has understudied the role of Dorabella in Così fan tutte for Garsington Opera’s 2015 Season as well as working in a collaboration with the Royal Shakespeare Company in a semi-staged performance of Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. She has performed the roles of Dorabella, Cherubino and Zerlina in an evening of Mozart for West Green Opera and sung the role of Diana in Giove in Argo with the London Handel Orchestra, conducted by Laurence Cummings as part of the London Handel Festival 2015.

Operatic roles include L’Enfant in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges (RCMIOS at the Britten Theatre), Madama la Rosa in Rossini’s La Gazzetta (RCMIOS) and Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte (RCMIOS), Medea in Cavalli’s Jason (understudy for English Touring Opera) and Tauride in Handel’s Arianna in Creta (London Handel Festival).

On the concert platform some of Rose’s recent and future engagements include Vivaldi’s Gloria at St. Martin in the Fields, Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus, Mozart’s Requiem and a recital in The Elgar Room, Royal Albert Hall.

During her studies, Rose has participated in masterclasses with Kasper Holten, Ann Murray DBE, Barbara Bonney and Angelika Kirschlager amongst others.

Rose studied at the RAM where she was awarded a prestigious DipRAM and also at the RNCM where she graduated with First Class Honours. Rose’s studies have been generously supported by a Richard Carne Scholarship supported by a Soirée d'Or Award, The Josephine Baker Trust, the Sussex Opera and Ballet Society and The Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
